My point in this article is to make sure you are not holding onto the names you registered first just because you like them. Your first domains are not a first born son, they are simply just domains and if they are bad let them drop. In the long run you will save yourself time and money.

This comes as a shock to those who have been following the trial because it seemed as the accused were going to get off easy. The court dropped almost half the charges on the first day of the trial according to other articles. The Founders were throwing a party in Sweden last week.

This is a huge decision for the record industry and the entire internet at large. The International Federation of Phonographic Industry estimates 95 percent of downloaded music is pirated, listeners can get music within seconds for free. With torrents and site like YouTube the music and movie industry is losing millions of revenue every month.

The court claims that the people who shared files on Pirate Bay have broken copyright laws. They did not mention what is the fate of the people who downloaded the files is. The court went on to say that "The Pirate Bay founders have facilitated crimes committed by site users and are therefore guilty of contributing to a crime." The men were also aware that copyrighted material was shared, the court said.

“It’s so bizarre that we got convicted at all, we have to laugh about it,” Pirate Bay member Sunde said. “They could have fined us 1 billion dollars. It doesn’t matter because we can’t pay and we wouldn’t pay.”   

The Pirate Bay is a very popular site with almost 22 million users online at once and a huge underground following. All of the press about the trial has seemed to only help them. Their servers were raided a few years ago but the site was back online in only a few days. They even have their own political party.

What does this mean for us domainers? Many people own torrent search engines and this could possibly spark much larger ramifications for anyone involved in the industry down the road. Could this be then end to movie streaming websites, illegal downloads and cracked software online or will this just further the movement and will the pirate bay founders be seen as martyrs.
