Does Godaddys Advertising Work?

Warning: Illegal string offset 'keywords_time' in /home1/theman37/public_html/ on line 103

Godaddy is by far the most well know domain registrar, and one of the reasons is their "aggressive" advertising campaigns. There are many people who do not like godaddy because of this or that reason people have millions of reasons, but that is not what this post is about.

I think that Godaddy does a good job bringing attention to the industry and without godaddy I believe that many people would not have websites online.

But, I wanted to do a test to see what people know about godaddy and the domain industry.

So I went around school and asked people what godaddy was and what a domain names was and then if the own any website.

I asked around 7 people who I know but am not best friends with and this is what I found.

Many people said, "Oh, Godaddy the one with the Commercials during the Superbowl or the Indy 500.

When I asked people what a domain was only 2 out of the 7 I asked knew what it was.

Almost everyone said they did not own a website but their parents did for their business.

I am going to redo this test at some point and film or record each persons response because I would like to make it more accurate.

What can my readers and I take from this, people know Godday and their eye catching advertisement must work. Should we all runs ads with scantily clad chicks, NO, advertisement does need to be catchy and the people need to remember what they saw.

What do you think of godaddy?

I think GoDaddy does a pretty good job with advertising — beer companies have been using scantily clad chicks for years, yet something about the way GoDaddy does their commercials makes them memorable. My favorite commercial of all time has to be the GoDaddy “Beaver” commercial. :)

Cool… I love the man on the street interviews!

My 5 and 7-year-olds know what domain names are, and regularly request that I register one for them =D

And, any time they want to see something on the computer, they say: Log on to dot COM :D :D

Intriguing test. Of course, it goes to prove the advertising works, because it’s much more about awareness of the brand than it is directly prompting a purchase. At some point a few of those you aasked will want a domain, and it’s a strong possibility they’ll visit GD first.

I have had very good experiences with GD and have a good few domains with them. Though I can manage a discount or two, which I thought I’d share with you ;)

The other big viral method they use for rpomotion is discount codes, like these:

MTECH1 for 10% off your order
    MTECH2 for 20% off $50 or more
MTECH330 for 30% off .com domains – works on renewals
They don’t expire and have no limitations on how much they can be used
