Day 3 Mini Site Content

Warning: Illegal string offset 'keywords_time' in /home1/theman37/public_html/ on line 103

We have come to Day 3 in this series, in-case you missed it yesterdays post was on Mini Site Design and Plugins.

Content is and will always be king when it comes to talking about minisites. I don't care if you have a great looking site or a great domain name for a minisite to be successful the content must be relevant to the visitors.

Before I write or hire someone to write content for me I use the Google Keyword tool to find out the topics related to my domain that I am going to write about and use as my keywords. I also search around on Google to see what other websites are writing about.

After doing this you have two options. You can write the content yourself or hire someone to do it for you. I do a mix of both.

-Writing your own content ensure you get exactly what you want and it is not too hard to write a few pages about a topic you enjoy and are knowledgeable of.  All it takes is a little research and I can write a few quality articles in less than an hour. Writing is time consuming and is not everyones favorite thing to do.

-Hiring out a freelance writer is a great choice. You can find good writers for as little as .01 cents a word. I use rentacoder, or sites like namepros. Once you find a writer you like say in contact with him or her. Just make sure you are specific when giving your writer their assignment. I have found a few reliable writers if you need some.

Regardless of what method of content creation you choose here are some things that I have learned. Most of the article I post on websites are from 200 word to 400 words. Reason one, it is cheaper to have smaller articles written. It makes it easy to read so each visitor does not feel overwhelmed. You can focus on specific topics in each article. I try and aim for around 250 words but my main rule is do what sound right. Make sure you provide valuable information to the reader, answer their questions or concerns.

Content also is very important with SEO. I try not to get too caught up in Keyword density and SEO technical terms like that I just always write like my English teachers have taught me to. When you write naturally you end up using your keywords and they do not sound forced into the article. This has worked out fine for me in the search engines my sites do very well and readers find my content easy and meaningful to read. Take a look at the copy on Butane Lantern and Clothing Display Racks I put together last night. Nothing too special just kept it really simple but I think it came out great.

Now we are a little over halfway with our minisites. We hopefully have the domain, hosting, wordpress and plugins, a design, and now content. I am busy working on my 7 sites and a few of them are almost done. Please ask any questions you have so far and don't miss tomorrows post Day 4.

and you can install multiple wordpress on 1 hosting account? Is this a unique feature offered by hostGator or is it common that GoDaddy..and others also offer multiple WP installation in 1 hosting account?

Sorry for the elementary questions…as I am a web newbie.
