First Look at Google+

I just got on my Google+ account for the first time and I would have to say that I really like it. I am a huge google fan and use many of their products like gmail, calendar, and now music too.  It does feel a lot like facebook, but right away the big differences were the circles or groups. When you go to add a friend to your network you pick which one of your circles to add them too. Facebook has tried something like this but it really has not caught on. Google+ makes it so easy to sort your friends. For me I have High School Friends, I will soon have College Friends, then Domainers, Family and other Friends and there is no point in my posts about Domaining to go out to my school friends and Domainers do not need to see the pictures of my party last weekend.

My google plus profileThen when you go to add a friend you can select where you want to put them for example here are my circles so far. It really is nice and easy to add poeple to.

One of the last things I saw was that there is a place where it shows every site yo have hit the +1 button on. It will be interesting to see if this ever comes to be a nice traffic source. On a site with thousand of +1 hits I could see that there would be some nice quality traffic but we will see.

Overall I really like the new gooogle plus and I think it is different that facebook, will it take over instantly no. But because google already has so many products people use on a daily basis I think that Facebook should keep its eyes open when it sleeps at night. The challange will be getting people to switch over from Facebook and I do not know it that will ever happen, but I think that many people like myself will not split time between facebook and plus. Right now I might only spend a little on plus but over time it could slowly hurt Facebook.

I do have a few invited left, so I willl offer them to the person that offers to trade me the best domian. :)

Google+ definitely looks interesting, and thanks for the add, Brian. It certainly has a lot of potential because Google is already “there” for people in so many places. I would love to start adding domainers I know to Google+, so I hope others that read Brian’s blog will hit me up with an invite.

Because our site has a YouTube channel that became a YouTube partner, we got an early look at this since YouTube invited all of its partners first. And the buzz among the YouTube partners, which are mostly people your age, is quite positive. I know a lot of them are already using Google+ for group chats and getting together to watch and comment YouTube videos, etc. So if it’s catching on among teens and college students, it may very well be a success.

    Hey Brian,

Pass me an invite buddy! I’m interested in trying it out. I’ll trade you my best domain for the invite, how does sound?

Too bad Google can’t run their Panda like Google +. Instead, their update de indexed many WhyPark sites, even ones that contribute quality content rather than use the WhyPark articles.

WhyPark allows you to disable their articles. IMO, there is a conflict of interest going on between the two platforms (former partnership). If I can remain indexed on my blogger sites, then I don’t see why my WhyPark keyword sites are de ranked and de indexed – not all but some important keywords.

How can I create a popular site when I reach 3,000, 8,000 and 17,000 unique per month and then my sites are axed along with the revenue.

Hopefully, Google + provides a good user experience. In what is consider to represent a good system can actually go south after fully implementing a new platform – after the testing and well into the maintenance phase.

Thanks for sharing your Google + experience. Good luck in college.
