How to Properly Use Domain Forums
NamePros and DnForum are two the the best domaining related resources if and only if you use them in the right way. If do not know how to do this, you will end up like many people just wasting time on the forums and not spending it domaining.
When I first started in this industry I was on Namepros 24/7, but now with so much else going on I visit once a day for less than 10 minuets and I still get the same amount of work done.
You need to develop a plan for using the domain forums to your advantage.
Pick the categories you are going to visit an talk in and stick to them
I look at the BIN domains, Young Domainers, Domain Dissusion, and established sites for sale. I love to buy established websites (with generic domains and traffic) if you want to email me if you have one for sale. Limiting yourself to only a few categories will keep you from wandering off and wasting time on some unimportant topic.
Use your signature and post
Build up links to your sites, share an article you wrote, or a good tip to build up your rep
Always be on the lookout for deals
I still think there are deals on domain forums, recently I have sold names I bought for under $5 for $100 or more. It is all about knowing what to look for. Find some sellers you like and that have names you like and stay updated with what they are selling.
The domain forums can be a great resource to learn from. They are filled with great commentary and tips shared from others experiences. If you are just getting started in the industry I would recommend you spend a few days just reading everything you can.
But make sure you are not just writing on domain forums instead of really domaining because the best way to learn is by trying stuff on your own.

I love NamePros myself, another tip is don’t try to unload domains in the forum, a reseller is the last person you want to sell to.

Great tip, yes always try and sell it to endusers or other investors but not on the forums. They can be a great place to buy if you know what to look for.

Really true and helpful advice! I especially like the tip about leveraging your signature to your advantage. Also I can relate to your interest in hunting for established websites to buy. I frequent BuySellWebsite dot com and find something I’m interested in buying once in a while.
