Patience With Minisites Pays Off

A few of my readers might remember when I first built out a set of minisites around 6 months ago. When I returned from my camping trips I found my paypal, EPN (eBay Partner Network) and Adsense accounts with more money that I had expected. It seems that my simple 5 page or so minisites had been shown lots of love by Google.

All of the first 4 sites I built rank on the first page of google and most of them are above the fold! Traffic is up this month on average 143.5% My average PPC click is over $1 on the very few sites I run adsense on and I am on track to have a record number of clicks with my EPN and phpbay combo.

For a while I doubted the minisites as they sat on the lower pages of search engines and only earned a little bit, but now these sites that took less than 1 hour to build are sending me a few hundred dollars a month. I know a few hundred dollars may not seem like a lot but my jeep gets 11.7 mpg the way I drive. They take very little time to keep up and I am building more right now.

So be patient with your minisites mine took about 5 months to gain Googles favor. I really did not do to much besides use all in one seo plugin on them. One has to use the exact match domain and SEO becomes much easier.

A very practical and easy way to put your keyword domains to good use…and that traffic you’re getting is just increasing the value of the domain name if/when you sell it.

Slow and steady…good things! Hey, why not link back to each of those sites from this article at the same time? Get your sites an extra backlink and people who want to check out your sites don’t have to copy and paste

I have actually taken a short break from the whole internet thing as I was getting frustrated with the lack of return on my minisites. I have my good moments and my bad with my website development. Reading this article has gotten me interested again. Good job with those niche domains!

Thanks Tom and DNLingo for the comments its nice to know a few people still read this sporadic blog. I added links to the domains to make it easier for people.

DNLingo for awhile I felt the same way but now I am fine with a site that makes $15 a month I just know I have to make lots of them :)

    Thanks for reading

Congrats on the increased traffic and revenue.

You referenced $1+ per click for Adsense. How do the ebay clicks compare?

With eBay the clicks are lower I average 13 cents a click but with the ebay ads they really don’t look like ads so they get so many more clicks than the google ads. I like ebays ads so much more and they do 4x as well as google on my product domains.

hey great article. I really appreciate your straighforward talk. Its really helpful. I have a qustion: I just applied to the EPN and they are asking me to verify ownership of the domain but they are using some technical langauge with which I am not familiar. Do you think you could do an article ( very soon LOL) walking us ( non techies) through the process of verifying domains for EPN? Thanks and keep up the good work.

Inspiring article. How many minisites do you have up and running?

One thing I did see missing on your sites is a privacy policy. There’s a few great wordpress plugins that can generate one very easily. you may want to look into this as Google requires them on any site using Adsense.

Thanks for sharing the info about your revenue stream, love those passive revenue streams. One thing, did you use any specific plugin with your ebay links/sites?

Nice 1 mate! Do the hosting costs cut too much into the money you make? Which hosting do you use?

I found the mini site game to be one of patience as well.

Its a lot about running the long race and sticking to a repeatable process.

Good to hear that you’ve gotten some decent results

Great article. Glad to know your efforts worked well. I too have tried putting up some, but haven’t seen much results in its SERPs despite doing the on-page seo (metadata title and description). I guess I have to make little changes with the keywords I use? or maybe do some more link building? anyway, hoping to see more of your informative articles.

    Keep it up,
