Before I start I just want hey, I'm back from states for track and now I am in the middle of ap exams which for those of you who do not remember much of high schoool, they are college level classes in which you have a national exam at then end of the year and have to get a good grade on it to receive college cridit. So needless to say the end of my last year of high school is quite busy.

But onto turning minisites into major money makers.

Many of my readers know that I build a fair amount of minisites. Then from these minisites some names do so well that they need more time put into them to make sure I am not leaving money on the table.

How can you tell which names you want to take to the next level?

There really is no exact science its a gut thing. I pick my names that are doing well in the search engines, but that I think can do better. It may not be smart to pick a name that is ranked second and only makes a few cents a month because it does not have the potential to grow like a site that is on the second page but makes $1 a month. It also depends on your interest and time commitment. The larger the site grows the more time and information you have to have.

When you select the name you want to make into a bigger site you do not have to do anything to fancy. Start small add some more content about topics visitors are searching for. Then change the design a little and see how the site responds. If everything is still working well then you know you have the right site to build you "Brand" on. I skipped this step on a recent project and now I have a built out domain I have invested hundreds in that gets 1 visitor a day.

Go ahead and register all of the social media accounts on twitter, youtube, and facebook etc. Start a nice search engine optimization campaign to try and climb up the rankings. While all of this stuff is nice in the end it's about the $$$, so how are you going to make more of that? Because it would be silly if you were still earning the same amount from your minisite after investing all of this money and time.

A few ways I am using on sites are

-Direct advertising - even selling ads for $20 or $50 can be a nice way to supplement income on a site.
-Affiliate networks - looks for products in your area and add them to your site, give honest reviews and people will like them try and find some lead generation partners and if you do not want to sell your own ebook sell another persons to see if it will work.
- Sell your own products

- eBooks or Course- With this method you are not selling a physical product so you have no inventory or shipping mess to deal with. All you have to do is create the ebook or course and start selling. I just started using this method on my site AirsoftRocketLauncher.com and it is going great. I am going to do a whole post on this method later.

- Sell real products-  This is the most labor intensive and requires risk and investment but it does pay off. I do not trust dropshippers for the area I was in so I decided to ship my own products on SpyPen.net and it is going great. With different plugins it was easy to set up my store and now the site makes more in a few days than it would have in a year as just a simple minisite.

There are lots of ways to take your minisites to the next level. I am going to try and get a few more ebook / online course sites up and running because I think they could be huge. I am also going to be branding more of my sites with youtube videos and social media stuff so stay tuned!

Brian, its really inspiring to see some one young trying everything possible to make use of a domain name.

But, here’s just a little thought, Internet surfing/search is being defined and evolving very fast. It’ll would be great if you could see the bigger picture than working very hard to make money from this small sites….. you’re good enough in those small sites; Why don’t you venture out for more challenging spectrum…. an app development or maybe a full big site perhaps.

I might be wrong, but I don’t see much value on very small niche/specified niche anymore.

I’ll be happy if you could get your hands dirty on something that really stands out, you got talent, you have passion, you have knowledge…. so just go and try something big.

Agreed with Mano – unless you just really enjoy smaller sites you should go big with developing one site with your skills. Morgan is on here enough he should weigh in – follow his lead…
You obviously enjoy band and track and you are starting college so any of those three would be a great starting point… just my opinion though… do what you enjoy in the end. You’ll be successful either way.

Another thought… a teenager’s guide to making money on the internet… the “summerjobssuck” alternative…

Could have an ebook, premium forum, domain name included for a low price of 127 up front for the domain and a basic wordpress install along with recurring monthly forum/training materials for like 19.99 a month…

    I’d like a cut please…
