The Best SEO Plugin for WordPress

I have been trying to learn more and more about SEO because I feel that it is such an important skill and something I wanted to learn this year.

A site I often find myself reading is Yoast. It is the best resource for information about seo for wordpress. Its easy to understand and has information for beginners and advances seo's.

On my sites I use to use the All in One SEO plugin along the Google Sitemaps plugin and a few more.

Now I have found a plugin that can do all of that and more WordPress SEO by Yoast. It has sitemap, title, keyword, breadcrumb, robots.txt, and permalinks built in.

I am going to be using this on all of my sites from now on.Its so much easier to install one plugin than a handful.

It does so many things for one plugin

Post titles and meta descriptions
Robots Meta configuration
Permalink clean up
XML Sitemaps
RSS enhancements
Edit your robots.txt and .htaccess
Clean up head section

My favorite feature about the plugin is the live preview so that when you type in the SEO title and description you can see exactly how it will look in Google. Which is how your visitors will find your site, which before I had never really thought about how exactly it would look from that end.

The tool also tells you how many times your keyword appears in the title, content, url, and meta description. It also uses a keyword suggestion tool right on the post page to suggest extra keywords. There are also many advanced functions for experienced user.

Best of all its free, and it is made by an expert who will continue to update it.

Do you want to switch over but do not want to redo all of your pages?

Not to worry there is a free plugin called SEO Data Transporter that can switch data between most popular SEO wordpress plugins.

I’ve heard the guys over at recommending the Yoast WordPress plugin highly as well. I have yet to play with it myself, but it appears to be one of the top plugins on the market…and you can’t be the price. :)

    Yo Mr&Miss SEO experts

Q: If all of the websites use the same SEO tools, same content, same design, etc-then what the point?

    Where is the edge?

I’ve used it on a couple of sites I built out and it’s nice to have everything there and sorted – the extracts feature that shows up in websearch IS very nice. Also been looking at Jetpack (not so much for pure SEO, but just to keep things neat).
I’ll be looking forward to hearing about your experience with Yoast.
