As the New Year begins I first want to wish everyone a happy new year. I know that if I write my goals publicly for the New Year here on my blog I will try harder to achieve them, then if I just kept them to myself. I am also printing out a copy of these and pasting it on my door, so I will always be reminded of them.

  • Develop and continue to grow my spypen.net website. I know it has huge potential I just need to continue to work on seo and add more content to it. I also want to establish partnerships to grow the site.
  • Finish up a few development projects that are so close to done, you should hear about these very soon.
  • Pick what’s profitable and focus more on that one area, right now I feel like I am all over the place with projects and ideas which may not be a bad thing after all.
  • Continue to buy domains and build minisites. My minisites have done well and when I spot the right name I want to be able to continue to build out my network of sites and increase their traffic and revenue. I am looking to develop more names in the same categories I already have ones in.
  • Continue to grow this blog and try to share and help people learn from my mistakes and few successes. This blog has opened so many doors and discussions for my I just love doing it.
  • Now that the holiday season is over get back to pitching end users. I took a break over the holidays and now I am just itching to make a phone call or send a few letters. I might get around to some tomorrow.
  • Do more affiliate marketing, in 2010 I saw how rewarding it can be. Now it is time to implement it.
  • Don’t count out selling to non “end users” and sell domain I do not have a plan for off.
  • Try and broker a bigger name to an end user. I have lots of experience at lower levels but I would love to give it a shot.
  • Become more organized!!! Set deadlines, make contacts, update profiles.
  • I am going to try and publish an ebook about minisites which has been requested by many of my readers.
  • My overall goal is to make low to mid $x,xxx per month domaining. I have a number set in my head and by the end of the year let’s see if I hit it. I am going to be starting college, and running college cross country and track, so I am going to be very busy, but I am always up for a challenge.
  • On a personal level I want to run under 9:50 in a 2 mile race. And drink more water.

What do you think of my goals, is there anything you would add or take away? What are some of your goals for 2011.

I never made it past your first goal and felt compelled to write when you said

I also want to establish partnerships to grow the site.

This industry has a lot of talent. Sadly it is fractional talent. Some people can pick or have great domain names with great development potential.

Others are masters at other domainer and Internet marketing skills like SEO programming copywriting domain auctions or even end user sales.

It seems that each talent segment is sitting on their talents and domain names and wishing that they posessed the skill sets they lack and that could bring them and their domain names to profitability.

in a way the Epiks of the world are offering to close that gap but not sure if the business model makes one feel like a true partner vs. someone that you might have daily interaction or discussions with.

What this industry needs and I will harp on it because I strongly believe it is for the talents to get together and I am not talking about a dominer meetup where everyon meets chats and goes their own way again.

I am talking about strong lasting partnerships that not only succeed but that inspire other domainers to mirror the successful partnerships and provide good news stories that benefit all industry players.

Let’s see and hope that the industry sees what I see and that is that the combination of energy and great talents will change the face and course of our industry in 2012.

BTW I feel strongly that this and your other goals are worth and that you will meet and exceed most if not all of them.

Nice reading your goals. I think you should consider developing some of your good .com’s in more than just mini sites. May be its just how i think, but i am going same way this year

Amazing initiative – as another commenter mentioned you might want to consider starting a mini-business (going beyond minisites) on a topic you are passionate about even if you don’t already have the domain.

Thanks for the tips, I am trying to move beyond the minisite with sites like spypen.net which is going to be a full online store and others.

Some great goals Brian, one of my goals is to get 10 quality websites up and running, and profitable in 2011. I made a few right at the end of 2010, which are also part of the scheme.

I’m going in the same direction, making some of my minisites into bigger sites. They are growing up!

    Great post Brian, I recently began the journey of domain development and decided to keep my targets small and simple for 2011;

    1) Have at least 5 mini sites up and running by the end of the year. (these sites must be filled with content and updated regularly).
    2) Develop the above sites for SEO to drive traffic.
    3) Keep my blog going and post everyday when possible.

Keep up the good work, you blog has inspired me to push myself out of my confort zone and try something new.

    Thanks
    Lewis

Good post, Brian, and a great reminder to all of us to have a plan and work the plan. Hey – you asked for feedback on your list, so here it comes. I started following your site when you wrote that 5-part series on creating a product minisite. To date I see only four of five parts. I’d cherish a peek at the last part anytime. Could you make that an extra goal? LOL. Still out here. Still reading your stuff. Best of luck and have a GREAT 2011!
