Boxcar Auctions Gaining Speed and Not Looking Back

This year, a new domain auction platform launched with professionalism and innovation. Boxcar.com is a online platform build just for selling domains.

Boxcar has found a way to weed out some junk by charging to sign up for an account and also to post an auction. This way people who are bidding are people who will end up paying for the domain and the sellers are not going to list domains that suck because they will loose money.

Boxcar has done a great job of integrating estibot, domain tools, twitter, and facebook into every auction. Its a great platform for seller also because there are no commissions besides the initial listing fee. Boxcar also provides great tools for sellers to promote their own auctions.

The site now has over 1,000 quality members in only 3 months of being online. The top auction closed with over 137 bids and the highest bid to date was yesterday on Lean.com for $38,000 which was just under reserve. Some other nice sales I have seen were StreamingTV.com for $8,000 and Telescopes.org for $4,000 plus many others under $2500.

When I look at most auction lots there are still some great high priced names, but I have found names that even I can afford. I really like the platform and I am thinking about holding my own small auction early in the new year. The buyers are already on the site looking for quality names.

One thing I would change is that in their banner ads they mostly show the high dollar domain auctions. They should showcase some of the medium and lower priced domains once and a while.

Look out for Boxcar early next year to roll out with some more great changes, great names, and killer updates. They are winding down auctions for the end of the year, but will be back on the first of the new year!

Today the people behind Live Domain Auctioneers Live Domain auctions are throwing another auction. It has been a few months since they held the last auction. I like the auction platform they use in which every name or lot of names starts at $1 with no reserve so if you bid on a name you will win.

The auction is done by professional live auctioneers via an audio feed so it feels just like a live auction. In the past there have been a few good domains sold at the auctions for very fair prices. The auction is held on proxybid so you must register in order to bid.

The auction takes place Today Sunday, February, 28 2010 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time

I think the auction has some very good domains for sale at fair prices. I will keep my eyes on a few of them and see if I can win a few names.

Another Domain Auction LDA Auction Today- My Picks

Right now we have the Luxary Names auction going on over at snapnames which I will talk about in a later post and today we have another live domain auctioneers auction at 1 PM PST. I have talked about theses auctions before and because of their no reserve $1 start of every name I really like them. There are no reserves so if you bid you can win the name regardless of the price which I think really created a nice bidding environment.

Some of the prior auctions have been lacking lots of quality names but I think if you are looking for quality names with lots of searches this could be great for you.

Stick with .Com, .Net and .Org – Look Whats Selling

During the past week and going into next week their have been and will be quite a few domain auction online. The Snapnames Monthly Auction just ended, the LuxuryNames Auction started earlier today, and the LiveDomain Auctioneers auction takes place later this week.

While off of these auctions are different they all have one thing in common. They are only selling off .com, .net and .org domains. Why is this? Because they are the most valuable right now. End users and big time investor want the top level domains. No one is going to be running some huge ad campaign on TV with a .info.

Many people are speculating heavily on the lesser domain extensions and cctld. Cctld's are a different story, the names I am talking about are the .info, .pro, .mobi, .biz and other lesser known domain extensions. Those names are not selling and for good reason because they are worth so much less than a .Com.

A quick tip for new investors into the domain game. Stick with the top level domains.Com will remain the king for many years to come. Some country code domains have had some great sales you might want to look into generic domains their. But stay away from the .info's, .pro and all of thoes other extensions if you are looking to resell the names for any real money.

Don’t Forget to Submit Your Names to the Snapnames Showcase Auction

Snapnames and Moniker have been running monthly themed showcase auctions for a few months now with great results. They are now accepting "hand picked, no and low reserve generic and keyword domains" for their October auction. I just submitted a few of my names with low reserves, these auctions have been turning out some good sales at great prices. Submit your Domains

Submission criteria From Snapnames:

Must be one- or two-word domains.

Domains in popular e-commerce and search-engine categories (such as finance, debt relief, jobs or shopping) are preferred.

Must be easy-to-remember and easy-to-spell words or phrases.

No typos, trademarks, hyphenated or adult domains.

Domain traffic and revenue data should be included whenever possible.

The Submission deadline is October 27, 2009 and the Auction begins: Tuesday, Nov. 10, noon EST.

The October Auction will focus on money and finance domains and it will run from October 13 to the 15th on Snapnames. The catalog should be released sometime this week.

Live Domain Auctioneers Second Auction Today at 03:00 PM PST

The Live Domain Auctioneers are holding their second auction tonight at 3:00 pm PST (Pacific Time). If you want to know how the first auction went take a look at my post about it. This auction format is unique because it is an online live auction format. There are no reserves and all domains start at $1.

The auction will be conducted by TROY HILL, and TORY MIRAN who are both licensed auctioneers with over 20 years of combined experience. Bidding will take place on ProxyBid and prebidding is open now. I will be watching the auction and might bid on a few names.
