The second live domain auctioneers auction took place last night with no reserves, and all online live bidding. The auctions are conducted by a live auctioneer over an audio feed on ProxyBid.com. I have to say that I really like the setup and idea behind the auction, but the names have been a little lacking. But, this auction surprised me to say the least. The bidding was lively and fun to watch and listen to and the sales turned out quite nicely.

The total sales of the 85 .com were $1718

Average price per name $20.69

Top 10 Sales

FitnessShows.com $322.50

KingZero.com $150

CupCollection.com $100

Identicals.com $85

ReelandRod.com $80

HowQuick.com $75

ClipCams.com $75

AcceptedLoan.com $70

PrivatePlayers.com $50

CookingReviews.com$50

Out of the 85 names all but 2 of the names sold. That is a really good stat because on some other domain auction sites we are not seeing as many bidders and many names are not selling. That why I like the no reserve start at $1 format. I look forward to seeing more auctions, the next list is up on the site already and there are some great names to bid on. I hope soon we will all be able to submit names to the auctions.

Before I begin let me say that I do not own one LLLL.com, I never have. I see little value in them besides the fact that they are short and easy to remember. To this day I remain skeptical, but am impressed at the market and value whether it be real or not for these names.

Last year when the DJIA was not under 8,000 it seemed that all you heard about was the LLLL.com's. A few years earlier on November 2, 2007 a Friday at 2:01 GMT all LLLL.com were registered. From this time on there was massive speculation and people where hording these names like they were next gold. It was about this time when in school we learned about the Tulip Bulb Bubble in the Dutch Netherlands, the English South Sea Company and the Mississippi Bubble in France. LLLL.com's turned out to be a lot like tulip bulbs, they were not worth the absurd amounts people were paying for them. I think for a time the minimum resale value for any LLLL.com was over $40 on the domain forums. (Correct me if I am wrong please) But, like my dad always says what must come up must go down. As the economy slumped and the buyers disappeared LLLL.com sales hit all time lows.

Today if you look on Namepros or eBay and search for LLLL.com you can find names for under $10.00. eBay auctions were closing at around $6.00 for an LLLL.com. As the economy gets better real estate will pick back up and people will again speculate on real estate property. Will they speculate on domains again?

I would bet Yes. It is bound to happen when you have something of limited supply. My question to my readers and myself is should we buy LLLL.com's now? It is the age old theory that is true for stocks and other investments will there be someone willing to pay me more than what I paid for it? I think that the buyers will return for the LLLL.com's. Sales might not return to past highs but they will be higher than registration fees.

I do not see much value in LLLL.com's but others seem to, should I buy something I believe has little value but will be able to turn me a nice profit? If I think that the values will go up and I will be able to sell them within a year for around double the price is it worth it? What do you think?

Do you own any LLLL.com's and what do you think of their value long term?
