A 17-year-old suspect, Stephen N. Shykes, is in custody as police located a device inside Rowlett High School, 4700 Kirby Road. Shykes was booked into the Rowlett jail pending formal charges.

At approximately 7:45 a.m. Rowlett Police responded to a possible bomb threat at the high school. Rowlett officers interviewed a student and were able to locate a device. The Garland Police Department was called in and destroyed the device in a safe location.

The high school was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. The lockdown was lifted at noon and the school resumed its normal activities. No injuries were reported and no other devices were located.

Scary, huh? According to some rumors, he was going to set off the bomb during the 1st lunch period, in the middle of the cafeteria. I sit 2 tables away from the center of the lunch room, in the 1st lunch. I would have been toast if this had gone down.

But luckily, Steven told one of his friends about the bomb, and warned him not to come to school. His friend tipped off the police, and our principle.

This all happened yesterday (monday), but we just now found out what actually happened.

Its a scary world...
